The end of March was the last day to register your dog if it is one of the banned breeds. That deadline passed and nearly 2000 dogs registered, but the issue still remains a hot topic.
A large number of dogs have yet to be registered, and one of the main reasons, is because of many of the dogs being of mixed breed and unable to clearly identify what they are mixed with.
We are continuing to look into what we can do to spark change and resolve this matter in a manner that is beneficial to animal lovers.
Meanwhile in Quebec...There are significant consequences ahead if the proposed ban continues forward. Numerous dogs, including puppies that are already in shelters, will no longer be available for adoption. Breeds that are likely included in this ban are but may not be limited to American Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers and American Pit Bull Terriers, Rottweilers, and any other dog that is a similar mix of these designated breeds.
